Learn how to use the All in One SEO plugin (AIOSEO) with WPML to achieve multilingual SEO. Translate content and optimize your site in different languages.
Getting Started
Start by installing and activating the following:
- All in One SEO Pro
- WPML core plugin and WPML String Translation add-on
- WPML Multilingual & Multicurrency for WooCommerce (if you are running a WooCommerce site)

Translating Your SEO Title and Meta Descriptions
All in One SEO allows you to decide between using smart tags or entering text in the Title and Meta Description fields. For example, you can add the tag “Page Date” in your meta description, or write the date manually.
To rank higher in searches in different languages, we suggest adding text manually.
After you’ve set up the SEO options for your default language page, translating them is simple.
Using the Dashboard Tab
The central place for translations is the Dashboard tab of WPML → Translations.
1. Go to WPML → Translations, expand the different sections and select as many items as you want. The Dashboard allows you to translate multiple posts, pages, products (if you’re using WooCommerce), and strings at once.
Once you’ve selected what you want to translate, click on Translate your content.
2. At step 2, select your translation method and then click Translate.
Translate automatically with WPML’s AI, PTC, is the recommended method for accurate bulk translations. WPML will then translate the content of the page along with meta-data added with AIOSEO.
If you want to translate yourself, select the Translate myself option and send the content to translation from the Dashboard. Then, go to WPML → Translations and click Translate next to the content.
This will open the Advanced Translation Editor where you can add your translations (or translate automatically). The AIOSEO fields appear as Custom Fields.
