To translate footers and headers, use WPML’s Translation Dashboard. If you can’t find some texts, use String Translation instead.
Translating Footers and Headers with Translation Dashboard
To translate texts in footers and headers with Translation Dashboard:
- Go to WPML → Translations and open the Translation Dashboard tab.
- Scroll down to the Other texts (Strings) section.
- Search for your texts and send them for translation.

Your footer texts will now appear translated when switching languages on your website.

If your footer and header are templates, you can find them under the Templates or Template Parts sections in Translation Dashboard.
Translating Footers and Headers with String Translation
If you can’t find some texts in the Other texts (Strings) section, follow the steps below to translate them with String Translation:
- Go to WPML → Theme and plugins localization.
- Select the theme or plugin components containing your texts.
- Click the Scan selected components for strings button.

- Next, go to WPML → String Translation and scroll down to Not seeing strings you are looking for section.
- Open the section and click the Admin Texts Translation link.
- In the new screen, search for your missing texts, select them and click the Add to string translation button.

- Back in String Translation, search for your texts and click the Plus icon to enter translations.
