MailChimp Multilingual – Run Multilingual Mailchimp Newsletters on WordPress
Run your Mailchimp newsletter in every language your site speaks. Visitors sign up to your list from a page in their own language, land in the right Mailchimp audience automatically, and receive welcome emails and automations in that language.
MailChimp Multilingual is the WPML add-on that translates Mailchimp for WordPress (MC4WP) sign-up forms – the most-installed WordPress plugin for connecting WordPress to Mailchimp. It works alongside ibericode’s free MC4WP: WPML Integration plugin, which routes each sign-up to the right Mailchimp audience based on the visitor’s WPML language. Both plugins are needed today to deliver the full experience; we’re merging them into a single MailChimp Multilingual release in the near future, so clients will only have to install one add-on once that ships.
Every Visitor Sees the Sign-Up Form in Their Own Language
The sign-up form on each language page renders in that language – field labels, placeholders, submit button, opt-in or consent text, and the success and error messages that appear after submitting. Visitors never see source-language text on a translated page, which is the single biggest cause of low sign-up rates on multilingual sites today.
The Right Audience and the Right Welcome Flow, Per Language
A sign-up from your French page lands in your French audience (or your French tag inside a single audience), so the welcome email that follows reads in French and the drip campaign you’ve set up for French subscribers fires automatically. The same logic applies to every other language on the site. The subscriber’s language is also sent to Mailchimp’s language field at sign-up time, so Mailchimp itself knows which language to use for future communications with that contact.
One Audience Strategy for the Whole Site
Mailchimp recommends keeping a single master audience and segmenting subscribers with tags, groups, and segments rather than running a separate audience per language. The routing plugin supports both patterns: per-language audiences, or one audience with per-language tagging. You decide your Mailchimp structure once, then the routing happens automatically based on the visitor’s site language. Mailchimp bills per audience, so keeping one master audience usually costs less and is easier to maintain.
Works Wherever the Sign-Up Form Appears
Every placement MC4WP supports renders in the visitor’s language: in-content blocks, sidebar widgets, footer forms, the WooCommerce checkout opt-in, the WordPress comment-form checkbox, the WordPress registration form, and opt-ins in Gravity Forms, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Contact Form 7, Easy Digital Downloads, Give, AffiliateWP, BuddyPress, bbPress, and Events Manager.
When sign-ups arrive through Gravity Forms, WPForms, Ninja Forms, or Contact Form 7, WPML’s matching multilingual add-on covers the form itself and MailChimp Multilingual covers the opt-in side of the integration. Together they keep the whole capture chain multilingual.
Translation You Don’t Have to Wire Up
Build a sign-up form in MC4WP and the form is immediately available for translation through WPML’s Translation Dashboard – no scan, no manual string registration. Send it for translation once and all the form’s content goes through together: field labels, placeholders, submit-button text, opt-in checkbox text (including custom-HTML consent text for GDPR), and every per-form success and error message. The same applies to any future edits.
Recommended Plugin, Continuous Compatibility
Mailchimp for WordPress is a recommended plugin on WPML’s compatibility list. WPML and ibericode (the MC4WP authors) work together on continuous compatibility, and the planned merge of the routing plugin into MailChimp Multilingual is part of that ongoing collaboration.
